When is the last time you had skin check?
It’s a well known fact that Australia holds one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world.
There are many different types of skin cancer diagnosed and treated every day including Basal and Squamous Cell Carcinoma’s but the most dangerous type is Melanoma.
Roughly over 14000 Australians are diagnosed with Melanoma each year and around 2000 unfortunately die from skin cancer annually.
So when is the last time you had a potentially life saving skin check?
Every Australian should have their skin thoroughly checked by a qualified health professional at least once every year. Some who may have a personal or family history of skin cancer come more regularly for their skin checks. Skin Revival offers thorough full body skin cancer screening by our dermoscopists with the added advantage of high quality dermoscopic imaging that is used for ongoing monitoring of suspicious lesions which is a key advantage in early detection of skin cancer.
The appointment takes no more than 20 minutes and is a particularly important step to take before undergoing any skin laser treatments especially for pigmentation removal, also, it might just save your life!
5 top tips from Dermoscopist Georgia –
1) Get familiar with how to check the UV index rating which can be found on the weather app on your smart phone. A rating 3 or higher is generally considered unsafe to be outside unprotected.
5) Set an alarm on your phone every 3 months and perform a skin check on yourself to the best of your ability in a well lit room like the bathroom, keep an eye out for any new or changing spots!
