Skin Booster, Beauty Booster, Bio-Remodelling: Why Are They All The Rage Right Now?
Hyaluronic Acid. You may see this term in almost every skin rejuvenating treatment and almost every skincare product. But why is that? Why is this naturally occurring sugar found in our body such a cornerstone of treatments that bring life back into our skin?
As we mentioned, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a natural occurring substance in our skin that provides volume and elasticity while keeping the skin hydrated, giving that “youthful glow”. It has the ability to attract and hold onto water molecules, helping to maintain and enhance the skin’s moisture barrier, keeping the skin hydrated and plump. (Did you know that HA can retain up to 1,000 times its weight in water!?)
By maintaining a hydrated environment, HA helps preserve collagen and elastin, contributing to the skin’s resilience and youthful appearance. HA also plays a role in wound healing and tissue repair, promoting cell proliferation and migration during skin injury repair processes. It also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, helping to protect the skin from the damaging effects of free radicals (unstable molecules that can accelerate skin aging), and helping to soothe and calm the skin.
Unfortunately, as we age, our skin undergoes natural physiological changes; slow and irreversible alterations due to intrinsic factors: oxidative stress, ethnicity, and hormonal changes, causing the HA molecules to diminish. And add on the extrinsic factors: sun exposure, air pollution, stress and lifestyle choices, to the mix and it leaves us with wrinkles, dryness and laxity.
So you can see the power of Hyaluronic Acid and how depressed we would all look if it didn’t exist holding our skin together, literally.
This is why these three treatments: Skin Booster, Beauty Booster, and Bio-Remodelling, all use HA as the cornerstone of their treatments!
We decided to explain what differentiates each treatment from the other to give you clearer idea of what you may believe would address your concerns efficiently. Of course, when you come in for a consultation, our doctor and nurses will assess your skin and confirm which treatment would best suit your skin.
So let’s begin with our Skin Booster:
Within Skin Boosters, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) chains are crosslinked using Butanediol Diglycidyl Ether (BDDE) cross-linking agent. Imagine HA chains like long cooked flexible spaghetti placed vertically next to each other, and then lay some more spaghetti horizontally over the top of the vertical strands, creating a ‘net’. BDDE is then placed at the cross sections of these spaghetti strands as a form of ‘glue’, holding them all together.
When this is injected into the skin, the HA strands stay close together, rather than spreading apart, and because they attract water molecules, they’re able to hold water retention in specific areas under the skin. The product then stimulates collagen and elastin production within that area. As the HA breaks apart and dissolves over time, the skin elasticity improves as well as an increase in plumpness, providing that youthful feel.
Skin Boosters are great to target specific areas of concern such as, for example, marionettes, fine lines around the lips, and acne scarring. The technique used is individual injection points and results usually last about 6 months.
Let’s move onto the Beauty Booster:
Beauty Boosters take a 3-in-1 approach. The treatment consists of intra or hypodermic microinjections given with a fine needle (similar to microneedling concept) of very small quantities of the product that includes Hyaluronic Acid, antioxidants, amino acids, minerals, and vitamins, and can be delivered all over the face.
The microinjuries caused by the multiple needles stimulates our immune systems natural response to kick in, activating the stimulation of collagen production in the treated area. The HA crosslinked with BDDE (just like the Skin Booster) attracts water molecules, holding moisture in the area so the collagen and elastin production can run smoothly as they repair and plump the skin. Then the antioxidants, amino acids, and vitamins, make sure the repairing process is sufficiently nourished and protected from extrinsic factors that may interfere with the process.
Results vary depending on intrinsic and extrinsic factors of the client and can last up to 9-12 months.
And finally, Bio-Remodelling:
Bio-Remodelling uses a patented hybrid stabilisation process that creates a complex of high and low weight Hyaluronic Acid, providing a longer-lasting effect without the need for chemical stabilisers, such as BDDE in the skin and beauty booster. By combining high molecular weight (H-HA) and low molecular weight (L-HA) hyaluronic acid, it forms a cohesive, stable hybrid complex that allows for effective and uniform distribution within the skin, helping to achieve optimal results in skin hydration and rejuvenation.
The substance efficiently spreads caused by the movement of our facial muscles and is like a honey consistency, perfectly nourishing the skin as it disperses throughout the face.
Besides optimising in hydration, bio-remodelling is great if you are concerned with crepey, rough textured skin, and/or sagging skin. The technique used are five specific individual injection points on each side of the face for the bio-remodelling substance to distribute evenly, and results last up to 2-6 months and is subject to the degree of skin laxity and aging.
Conclusion:
With the power of Hyaluronic Acid, your skin can be rejuvenated back to its youthfulness. With these three different modes of application, you can easily hydrate the skin while stimulating collagen and elastin production, providing your skin renewed cells to show off that beautiful glow! For optimal results, all boosters require an initial 2-3 treatments spaced for 4 weeks apart, with a maintenance treatment every 6-12 months to maintain your elasticity and revitalisation.
So come along to Wollongong’s favourite skin clinic for a consultation to see which treatment would best suit your skin’s conditions.
