Katherine McPhee definitely got it right when she sings that a girl needs plenty of open toe shoes in her song “Open Toes”!

Nothing cuter than matching open toe heels with an adorable dress to wear them with. The only thing we don’t like wearing is toe nail fungus.

Onychomycosis does not go with anything!

There are multiple reasons of how we can get nail fungus and some include:

• walking barefoot in damp places (public pools and showers, saunas, gyms etc.),
• wearing sweaty or tight footwear that don’t have efficient ventilation or can crush the nails,
• or even nail trauma from stubbing a toe.

These situations can allow spores to creep under the toe bed and create discoloration, separate the nail from the bed, and can thicken the nail.

The main result though? Unattractive and embarrassing, especially when you want to wear cute shoes that reveal the toes, or just want to walk along the beach without having to tell people “Don’t look at my feet!

But don’t panic! There are treatments that can reverse the effects of nail fungus and eradicates the bacteria that loves your feet more than you do!

We provide a precise and non-invasive solution by utilising the Cutera Laser technology. The Cutera Laser emits tiny pulses of light energy, and these pulses penetrate through the nail to reach the fungal cells infesting on the nail bed.

The energy is absorbed by the fungal cells, killing them off while leaving the surrounding healthy skin and nail unharmed.

You may experience temporary discomfort as the laser heats up the treated area. The clinician will pause when it becomes too uncomfortable, allowing your toes to cool before continuing treatment. But, as they say, “Temporary pain for permanent gain!”

A minimum of three sessions is required for mild cases, while some cases require more. Sessions generally last about 45 to 75min depending on how many nails have been affected by onychomycosis.

We treat each nail, including the ones that don’t seem to be affected, to prevent further infection. Each session is scheduled 4 weeks apart to give the treated area a rest from the acute trauma caused by the laser.

We advise using an anti-fungal cream on the surrounding skin for 2 weeks post treatment to prevent re-infection.

Since the fungus affects the nail, visible results (clear nail growth) are seen gradually as the nail grows out, typically taking between 6 and 12 months to observe full improvements.
