And aging gracefully can be achieved with your trusted team of skin clinicians and cosmetic nurses, here at Skin Revival!
Skin laxity (loss of elasticity within the skin) is a natural occurrence as we grow older. And even though there may be ways that may speed the process of skin laxity, there are methods, treatments and procedures that can slow it down so you can stay looking younger for longer.
Collagen Breakdown: Collagen is a form of protein that provides the skin its structure. Production slows down (about 1% less each year after age 20-25), and existing collagen fibres weaken, as we age. (We know, that is a bit depressing to read).
Elastin Damage: Elastin is another form of protein within the skin, and it’s what gives our skin that snap-back effect (like a rubberband). Unlike collagen, it’s produced early in life and once it’s damaged, our bodies produce very little new elastin fibres. (Also a tad depressing to read.)
Decreased hyaluronic acid: This molecule is naturally found in the skin and keeps tissues hydrated and plump. Levels unfortunately drop as we age and this leads to dryness and sagging of the skin.
Slower cell turnover: Skin renewal slows, making the skin thinner and therefore, less resilient to external factors.
Hormonal changes: Unfortunately, being a woman means our hormones change regularly, and sometimes, unpredictably, as we age. Estrogen declination (especially after menopause) reduces skin thickness, hydration, and collagen production, leading to skin laxity.
Moving onto external factors: excessive sun exposure breaks down collagen and elastin fibres in the dermis. This can cause a “solar elastosis” effect: thick, damaged fibres that make the skin sag and wrinkle.
Smoking can restrict blood flow to skin cells, depriving them of oxygen which leads to cell death and reduces cell turnover. Chemicals within each cigarette also triggers collagen breakdown. Poor nutrition such as lack of efficient protein, vitamin C, zinc, and antioxidants slow collagen synthesis. And chronic exposure to free radicals from air pollution damage skin cells and prohibit collagen and elastin production.
And one vital practice that we all can neglect and abuse at times is lack of sleep and rest. Especially if we are regularly stressed, elevated cortisol breaks down collagen and elastin protein fibres, and if we’re not getting sufficient, and efficient, sleep, our skins repair mechanisms can become impaired.
We always encourage, if you can, to makes changes that you can control, such as drinking plenty of water, eating nutrient dense food and high sources of protein, getting plenty of sun (but not to the extent to the risk of burning), getting adequate amount of sleep, etc. If you’re unsure if you’re getting enough vitamins or minerals or seeming to not get the best night’s sleep, consult with your general practitioner for blood results and seek out specialists that can assist in these areas.
But we, as the skin experts, have procedures, equipment, and products that can improve your overall skin elasticity and bring that bounce back within your skin.
Below are just a few that we offer!
Revival+ TriPollar with DMA
TriPollar is an advanced skin treatment that capitalizes on the skin-firming properties of radio frequency for non-invasive contouring. Here’s how it works. The TriPollar system concentrates heat painlessly on the skin’s fibroblasts, contracting the skin’s collagen for immediately tighter, firmer skin.
While TriPollar focuses on the fibroblasts, DMA technology stimulates and tones the muscles underneath the skin, causing them to contract and deliver an instant face-lifting effect. That way, your skin tightens up and the muscles underneath it contracts, ensuring firmness is sustained.

Cutera Laser Genesis
The Laser Genesis procedure utilises non-invasive laser technology to safely, discretely and effectively treat fine line wrinkles, large pores, uneven skin texture, diffuse redness and scars.
By gently heating the upper dermis well below your skin’s surface, Laser Genesis stimulates collagen regrowth. Additional heat is generated in dilated capillaries to reduce redness.

Procell Microchanneling System
Procell Delivery serums serum support celluar renewal. The bioactive signalling molecules amplify cell-to-cell communication which stimulates pre-exisiting cells to greater levels of function in order to facilitate skin rejuvenation.
Excellent results are achieved with needle depths as low as 0.50mm, providing a less invasive treatment while still stimulating collagen and cell renewal. Microchanneling improves texture, tone and elasticity and is assists a wide range of skin conditions including fine lines, wrinkles, rosacea, acne scarring, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, sunspots, melasma, and laxity and is suitable for all skin types.

PDO Mono Threads & COG Threads
PDO Mono Threads or ‘short threads’ are designed to perform a revitalization skin treatment, the treatment is beneficial for skin tightening, skin thickening and to improve skin texture thus reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Once inserted into the skin, PDO Mono threads activate collagen synthesis to gradually tighten and rejuvenate the skin. This provides the skin with a tighter feel and appearance and more of a youthful look.
COG Threads are used for the lifting of soft, sagging facial tissue. They are also are used for skin rejuvenation and wrinkle treatment. Once inserted, COG Threads will be absorbed by the body over time, typically around 6 to 8 months. Due to increased collagen production, results can up to 12 to 24 months. As the suture absorbs in the body, it promotes the production of collagen and elastin in the skin.
