Why Skin Consultations Matter

Why Skin Consultations Matter

We all desire to possess healthy, glowing skin.

But, unless we are educated on what healthy skin looks like, or how it behaves, we may not realise that our skin isn’t healthy at all. And you may have had a skin condition without realising that there are treatments and skincare products that can assist managing your skin’s symptoms.

We strongly believe in the power that comes with education, and specifically, being informed about the skin: its ability in protecting our internal organs, muscles, and how it provides early warning signs of disease and illnesses lying deep below the skin, as well as the best ways we can support it with essential nourishment and treatments.

The more we look after our skin, the more efficient it will look after us!

There are many factors that contribute to the health of our skin.

Internal factors, such as hormonal or chemical imbalances that may be triggered via genetics, traumatic stressful events, or food that we ingest, can cause skin flare ups. These factors are usually the first to be overlooked when considering what may be contributing to our skin conditions, mainly because they are less obvious than other factors that can be “seen” such as external factors.

External factors, such as debris and pollution from the environment we work in, or possibly the skincare products or make-up we apply to our face daily, can impact how our skin responds. These factors are usually the first to be addressed because we can physically observe them and can take into account the frequency we are exposed to them.

Within our skin consultations, we take into consideration all these factors and assess what may be causing your skin concerns and/or conditions and how to best address them at their core, rather than just treating the superficial symptoms that we can see on the surface.

Most of the time, it’s what’s happening under the skin that’s the most important thing that needs to be considered and assessed to best manage your skin’s symptoms.

Yes, it is more effort.

Yes, it may take multiple sessions and a rigid home skincare system.

And, yes, it may seem like the results are slow to see!

But remember, it may have taken years for your skin condition to develop, and the signs and symptoms may have not revealed themselves straight away when your skin was being traumatised. So, it will take some time to reverse the condition, especially if you did not address the early symptoms straight away.

OBSERV 520 Skin Imaging Analysis

One tool we utilise to aid us in assessing your skin is the OBSERV 520 Skin Imaging Analysis.

0.0035%.

That’s the amount of light frequencies that the human eye is capable of detecting out of the entire electromagnetic spectrum!

The 0.0035% we call “visible light”, ranges from the violet (which has the shortest wavelength of 380 nanometres), to red light (which has the longest wavelength of 700 nanometres).

There are some animals and insects that can see infrared (IR) and ultraviolet light (UV), but we will never be able to experience those light frequencies without technological assistance.

Why mention all of this?

Well, our skin can hide many secrets and concerns undetectable to the naked eye!

That’s why, within our skin analysis, we use OBSERV 520 Skin Imaging Analysis to assist with assessing and providing an accurate skin condition diagnosis at both the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin. The OBSERV 520 provides six comprehensive observation modes to help illustrate what is occurring within the skin that we can not see with the naked eye.

6 Observation Modes

  1. Daylight – First, this mode takes an image of the skin as seen in a controlled, natural daylight environment perceived from the naked eye. Having this image is a good base point to compare how the skin fares to the other modes.
  2. Parallel Polarised – This provides and enhanced view of the skin’s surface, demonstrating the prominence of fine lines, micro-relief, wrinkles, skin texture, and pores that may not be obvious when looking directly straight at your face with a mirror.
  3. Cross Polarised – This mode suppresses skin’s surface “shine” when light reflects off your skin. It creates an unobstructed view to help reveal more distinctly the dermal structures, vascular conditions, inflammations and pigmentation.
  4. True UV – This is where the OBSERV really shines, exposing skin abnormalities on the surface of the skin, and within the deeper skin layers, creating distinguishable fluorescence patterns.
  5. Simulated Woods Light – Another powerful mode that adjusts the spectrum of light to reveal diagnostic dimensions, such as defining if your skin is dehydrated or dry, and oily.
  6. Complexion Analysis – And lastly, this mode reveals inhomogeneities in skin tone, pigmentation irregularities and irritations that may be difficult to observe with the naked eye.

Once we have assessed your skin with the OBSERV 520 Skin Imaging Analysis, and addressed the external and internal factors that may be contributing to your skin condition and/or concern, we’ll then write up a treatment plan for us to follow as well as provide skincare products that you can utilise at home that will complement your treatments.

The amount of skin treatments, as well as the recovery time between each treatment, may differ depending how your skin responds to the treatments and the suggested skincare products.

We pride ourselves in delivering the desired results that you are satisfied with.

We never “jump the gun” and make assumptions after spending 5 minutes with you and only assessing your skin with a superficial perspective.

For us to achieve a healthy glow with your skin, we always book you in for our 60 minute consultation before performing any procedure, and thoroughly ask you questions and we may provide test samples to see how your skin responds to treatments and products.

So! If you want to achieve healthy, glowing skin, and do it the right way by addressing your skin condition and/or concern at its core, call us to book in for your skin consultation!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
