Onychomycosis Treatment

Skin Revival was the first clinic in Australia to employ the latest laser technology to treat the nail fungal condition onychomycosis, a common fungal nail disease causing unsightly looking nails on both the hands and more commonly the feet.

While there are other treatments available like daily lacquering (around a 10% success rate), internal medication (50% success rate with high liver stress and inability to retreat if unsuccessful), and the new laser treatments show a 70% to 90% success rate with 1 to 3 treatments.

At Skin Revival we have been treating this condition with huge success for the past 3 years and have never seen an adverse
reaction to the treatment.

With the cost of $160 per treatment for 1 area, either both hands or feet, this treatment is not only quick and effective but also affordable. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required when you make your booking and at least 24 hrs notice is required, should you need to change your booking.

What is this new laser treatment?

The new laser treatment is perfected to safely and effectively treating onychomycosis (toenail fungus).
By targeting the fungus directly, the laser gets to the source of the problem immediately.

How does the laser work?

Tiny pulses of light from the laser pass through the toenail to the fungus underneath. The fungus is irradiated without any damage to the surrounding nail or skin.

How long does the procedure take?

As we will be treating all the nails in the affected area, the laser procedure will take around 30 minutes.

Is the treatment painful?

Most people feel a slight warming sensation during the procedure. No pain medication is needed and most people find the treatment very easy to tolerate.

How many treatments will I need?

Many patients only need one treatment, but some need more if they have severe cases of toenail fungus. You will be advised of what to expect before your first treatment

Are there any restrictions on my activity post procedure?

You can resume your normal activities immediately.

When will I see results?

You won’t notice anything immediately following treatment. However, as your nail grows out, the new nail growth should be clear. Toe nails grow slowly, especially nails infected with fungus. Consequently, it may take 6-12 months for your toenail to clear.

Will the fungus come back?

Re-infection with toenail fungus may be acquired anywhere from your environment, for example, in damp areas such as public swimming pools. Consult with post care instruction to minimize the chances of re-infection and take precautions to prevent toenail fungus from reoccurring.

When can I apply nail polish?

While it is important to remove nail polish, decoration and jewelry prior to treatment, you can reapply nail polish 24 hours after treatment.

How does the laser treatment compare to other toenail fungus treatments?

Traditional treatments such as nail trimming, topical medicine, oral medicine or nail removal have significant drawbacks. Nail trimming doesn’t treat the fungus. Topical medicines need to be applied for 12 months and have a low success rate. Oral medicines are taken for 3 months but can cause liver or kidney problems. The laser treatment is a quick, easy, safe, effective procedure that treats the fungus at the source.
